Taste of the Nation 2013

If you have been reading a while, you may remember my post last year about Charlotte's annual foodie event, Taste of the Nation. This is the 18th year and I am SO excited to be a part of it! Make sure you come out TONIGHT to help childhood hunger.

Taste of the Nation is a Culinary Event that is managed by Share Our Strength, a national organization that raises funds with the goal of ending childhood hunger by 2015! They have different events throughout the year that help raise funds towards this ambitious goal. You may have heard of them: Great American Bake Sale, Dine Out for No Kid Hungry, and Cooking Matters. What's great about Taste of the Nation is that all ticket sales PLUS net proceeds from the auctions stay in Charlotte! The money is divided evenly between the Second Harvest Food Bank and the Community Culinary School of Charlotte.
The event will again be held at Two Wells Fargo Center in the Wells Fargo Atrium  (301 S Tryon). I am the Auction Chair, and we've got TONS of great stuff for you to bid on!

Stefan Huebner is coming back as our Mixologist for the evening. He is now at Heist Brewery and people LOVE him! He will be set up in the Auction area.

Hot Sauce will be performing all evening, hopefully in their Chef's Whites!
We also have Mr. Perry again as our Live Auctioneer. We have 5 FABULOUS items that he will be auctioning off!
Wine & Design will be coming back, and will be doing a painting LIVE in the Auction area!
There will be 21 restaurants participating: BLT Steak, Brixx, Cantina 1511, CPCC, Chima, E2, Enso, Electrolux, Gallery at Ballantyne, Harper's, JWU, Napa on Providence, Mama Ricotta's, Mimosa Grill, Queen City Q, Savannah Red, Ember Grille, Upstream, Village Tavern, Vivace, Whole Foods, & Wolfgang Puck Pizza/Bar. There are also wine, beer, and liquor distributors that are involved, so you can do a lot of UNLIMITED tasting in the 3 or 4 hours! Tickets are $100 for VIP (with exclusive access to VIP lounge with food provided by JWU) from 6-10PM and regular tickets are $85 from 7-10PM.
I have received a lot of great items for the silent and live auctions, so I hope you can make it! I will be running around like a chicken with my head cut off, but if you recognize me, say HI!

Also, if you attend and take pictures or tweet, use #NoKidHungryCLT!
xoxo,
M
