Wedding Wednesday: 10 days until I'm a Mrs.!

This is the final countdown, y'all. I had a mini panic attack when the countdown went from 3 digits to 2 digits, and I bet you can guess how I'm feeling now that tomorrow will be the single digit countdown. BREATHE.

When you decide to have a long engagement, it kinda seems like your wedding won't happen ever. Because 500-something days is a LONG freaking time. It is a long time, especially when you get the big stuff checked off your list like 2 months in. And then you're like NOW WHAT? With Pinterest and blogs being unavoidably everywhere, I couldn't make a damn decision about any small details, so I did what normal people do: I buried my head in the proverbial sand and waited until two months out to think harder about what I wanted the reception space to look like. As in I hadn't decided fully on flower style, linens, signs, etc.
It got to a point where I got all of the important stuff done (venue, photographer, caterer, tent, dress), and I realized that was obviously the stuff I cared the most about so I kind of felt BLAH about everything else for like 6+ months. I literally e-mailed my venue and photographer the DAY we got engaged, found my dress 2 weeks later, and picked a caterer in like February of last year. So from like February until DECEMBER, I didn't really do anything. Then it was 2013, the "wedding year", and we amped up the planning. Transportation, flowers, rentals, signage...who has such a solid idea what they want for that? I certainly didn't.

But now, the flowers are finalized, as is the menu, layout, timeline, etc. There are a few things I'm doing next week when I'm home (taking the week off before the wedding is going the be the BEST THING EVER), but I'm not stressing. I know I have time and lots of eager people who want to help (THANK YOU MOM, SISTER, & AUNTIES!).

I've gotten really good perspective from multiple people: Do I have the dress? YES. Does Connor have his suit? YES. So if the small details like the guestbook or something doesn't turn out just so, does it matter? NO. I'm getting MARRIED to my best friend. We are going to stand in front of our best friends and family and make beautiful promises to each other and be MARRIED! And then we're going on a fabulous vacation because, why the hell not?

I don't think I'll be posting much until after we get back from St. Martin, but I promise to post a few stolen images from our friends in 2 weeks after we say I Do.

Thanks for sticking with me and I'll be back soon as a Mrs.!

Weather obsessed

So I generally am a little weather-obsessed in normal life. For example, every morning when I'm waking up, I look at the hourly weather in Charlotte, and maybe in Charlottesville, Charleston or St. Martin. Just to see what's up. Once the month of May hit (OMG), I started looking at the month-of forecast for Charlottesville. Since we are having an outdoor ceremony in the end of May in Virginia, I know that there's a strong chance it will rain that day. But it would be nice to know if we need umbrellas or sunglasses at our wedding!

I looked at the Farmer's Almanac, and was a little bummed to see that May 20-27 will be cool and possibly rainy. But there's nothing I can do so I'll just wait it out.

I also checked Weather Underground, and next week is looking kinda perfect. So we'll see, I guess! I mean, Thursday the 23rd says high of 76 and sunny. That's as far as the forecast goes!

Until May 25th, I will be checking the weather report on various websites obsessively. Because I'm crazy like that.

What were your obsessions the last few weeks before your wedding?

Mobile eateries

Listen y'all. It's no secret that I just LOOOOOVE food. I love cooking food just as much as I love eating food. But sometimes it's nice to let someone else do the cooking....and I especially love when it comes from a TRUCK.
Chorizo tacos from a stand at the Charlottesville Market
I am so lucky to live in a city with SO.MANY.FOODTRUCKS! The first one I tried was The Herban Legend which comes to JWU on Thursdays. I've tried the black bean burger, the Chicken shawarma, & the fried green tomato grilled cheese. I've also heard rave reviews on the reuben, the cuban, and the french dip! Basically, you can't go wrong with this truck. My friend who has a seafood allergy is even able to eat here! They keep it clean, yo.

Connor & I also came across Papi Queso when we went to Sleepy Poet over the weekend. We were literally talking about getting lunch when we walked outside and there it was! Kismet.
I was pretty jazzed to find it, since I've heard it is hard to find out & about.
We ordered the special: Fennel sausage, local collard greens, provolone, shaved onions & tomatoes
And the Heirloom bacon grilled cheese. And we devoured both in like 1 minute.
Here's a shot from one of Charleston's food stands where Lara & I got Beignets. YUM.

This was a little crepe stand at the adorable weekend market in Falls Church, VA when we visited our friends Charlie & Christina

And another awesome stand at the Charlottesville City Market....Pantheon Pops! (modeled by my gorgeous sis!)

As you can see, I just LOVE any excuse to eat up any on-the-go food! That's why I'm super excited to check out Chow Down Uptown tonight! If you live in Charlotte, the parking lot by the 7th Street Public Market will be home to what looks like 20 Food Trucks TONIGHT from 5-9 PM. I hope to see you there!

Wedding Wednesday: The Accessories

I've got the dress, I'm done with my alterations, so now I've been focusing on the finishing touches. Here's what I already have ready to go:

Lilly Pulitzer: Ginger Wrap Wedge in Gold (purchased last summer at Lilly sale)

(made by me)

Kate Spade (3 pair to choose from, day-of obviously)
"On the Town Chandelier Earrings" These are HUGE and HEAVY but I'm obsessed
"Cluster Studs" These are clear, not pink, and they're so pretty
And of course the classic Gumdrop Stud earrings

I have a vintage one of my grandmother's that I use all the time
This is similar to what I have, mine doesn't have the kisslock function

RueLaLa had a Hanky Panky sale last week and I jumped on it when I realized I needed something that day. For some reason that detail slipped my mind. I scored a 2-pack of black & white underwear. Glad to check that off the list!

Next up is what I need help with! I need a cocktail ring for my right hand. I've been looking all around and haven't found THE RING.

So I looked in my own jewelry collection and came across a ring I rarely wear because it's pretty dressy. Connor gave it to me for my 23rd birthday from Perry's (my favorite antique jewelry store!). It can be my "Something Old" & "Something Blue" (those are sapphires).

What do y'all think? Did you struggle finding the perfect accessories?
