Riff Raff Reunion Weekend

Lara and I had an amazing weekend in Charleston. The weather was absolutely perfect and we did a lot of fun stuff. We tend to overindulge in great food & drinks when we get together, and I never regret it!

I got a tour of their new place when I got to town, and we got ready to go to O-Ku on King Street for happy hour. They have half-price sushi and cocktails on Fridays from 5-7, so we made it our dinner. It was so good!
I started with the Ginger's Afterglow {Milagro silver tequila, Thai chili pepper, lime , ginger agave} It was spicy but delicious
 Cheers! Lara had a Sugar & Spice Martini IHabenero infused vodka, passion fruit, simple syrup}
Steve, Lara, and I!
For dinner, we all got different sushi. I ordered the Potato Roll {Shrimp tempura, avocado, shoe-string potatoes, eel sauce &sweet chili mango} and the Tuna Wrapped Roll {Spicy tuna, cucumber, tuna, spicy aioli, eel sauce}. Yummmm
 After dinner, we headed over towards Broad for the Friday Art Walk. It was our favorite thing to do in college, and I haven't been back to one in ages. We obviously had to do a little photo shoot on a pretty cobblestone street. Duh.
We finished our walk at Robert Lange Studios, who Lara & Steve are friends with. They had an opening for two artists and then a private concert. We drank wine, ate cotton candy, ogled over art, and had a great time!
We then headed over to Voodoo Tiki Bar & Lounge for one last drink
 And we took very normal pictures
 ....And shared a flaming bowl of rum punch
They played some SERIOUS jamz (Snoop Dogg, Boys 2 Men, the Wobble), and we had a big night.

Saturday morning we got up and headed to the Farmer's Market downtown
 I got a juice and we got Banh Mi
 Mmmmm....5 spice pork
 Walking back to our car, we had to stop in Glazed for a Maple Bacon donut. Obviously!
 We drove out to Sullivan's after eating. It was a gorgeous day...not too hot!
 Rocking my Carolina Beach hat
 We stopped in Home Team for a drink, and then headed over to get our nails did. We meandered back home and went to the pool. It was such a perfect afternoon! We definitely took a little snooze...
We got gussied up for another big night out. Fake eyelashes? Yes please!

We headed over to Wild Olive on John's Island, where Steve works, for dinner. It is one of the best restaurants in Charleston!

I started with an Italian Mojito {rum, basil, mint, lemon sorbetto}
 We ordered a few appetizers and shared a pasta:

Charred octopus {creamer potatoes, spring onion, capers, pancetta}
 Salad {Coppa, shaved fennel, apple, arugula, toasted hazelnuts with a Gorgonzola dressing}
 Calimari napolitani {fresh calimari with a spicy tomato sauce}
Ricotta Gnocchi {marinara, mozzarella, basil}

 Brussels Sprouts {lemon and fresh chilies}
 For dessert, the Chocolate & Hazelnut Torte {hazelnut gelato, chocolate sauce}
 And we got a fabulous dessert wine to top it all off! We were stuffed.
After dinner, we drove downtown for a nightcap. We obviously needed to document our dance party in Veronica.
 We stopped in the Macintosh for a drink first. I LOVE all of the new Upper King bars! I am always in awe of how much Charleston changes each time I visit...

We then headed up to Stars Rooftop Bar for one last drink before heading home. It was such a perfect night for a rooftop drink!
Sunday we slept in a little bit and then headed over to Three Little Birds Cafe
 We sat at the bar and grubbed out. I got the Huevos Rancheros....yum!
I packed up Veronica and headed back to Charlotte after breakfast. I was sad to leave, but we'll be going back for a wedding in October and I can't wait!

Charleston is the most magical city...I hope you get the chance to visit!

You definitely experienced Charleston! Looks like you had a great time! Love Glazed! Our good friends are the owners. Home Team is the best BBQ hands down! They catered our rehearsal dinner! I've never been to Macintosh but I'm dying to go!
