Sin City Day 1

Last weekend, I met 5 of my best girlfriends in Las Vegas for an epic weekend. We packed so much in each day that I have to split up the posts into a 3-part series. I didn't want to inundate you with all of the pictures!

I woke up early on Thursday morning to catch a 7AM flight out of Charlotte. Thanks to Delta allowing you to keep your phone on during the flight (airplane mode), I was able to catch the sunrise over my city. It was so gorgeous!
When I landed in Memphis, there was a 3-hour delay on just our flight. Apparently the pilots were on "crew rest", and they had to fly 2 new pilots in, resulting on a 3-hour delay. I made the best of it, and ordered a man-mosa while I checked my email and watched an episode of Bones (new show I'm binge-watching)
We finally boarded and just over 3 hours later we started our descent. The pilot took us over the Hoover Dam and around the desert, and I was blown away. The mountains that came out of nowhere, with all of the colorful rocks. I am now obsessed with that part of the world.
The airport is just south of the strip, so you fly right by all of the casinos. I got excited as soon as I saw the big buildings rise out of nowhere!
Karah picked me up, and we headed to our hotel to check in. We got a really good deal at Treasure Island, and we happily stayed there for 1 night. We had a great view of the north end of the strip (and of the Wynn where we stayed the rest of our trip!).
Our #1 priority after checking in was a celebratory cocktail. Senor Frog's was in the casino, so we walked downstairs. She had a mojito, and I had a spicy mango margarita

We love selfies, but the bartender took pity on us and offered to take our picture in our coordinating sunnies (mine from Forever 21, hers are the real Rayban deal)
We decided to drive around and see the tacky sights before we got Doran. We stopped at the Little White Wedding Chapel, where they filmed the Hangover (we think?)
Elvis greeted us on the sign and we had a little tour around

We also took a few terrible selfies

Our next stop was to go to the pawn store where they film Pawn Stars
It was definitely crowded! They had a silly banner at the back of the store next to their Picassos. Oh Vegas...
Karah got to meet her one true love: Chumlee! It was very exciting
Our next stop took us to my beloved In N Out. We got animal-style fries and took a nap before picking up Doran at the airport.
Once we picked her up, we got ready for a night on the town. We loved our view of the sparkly city
After a necessary elevator selfie, we headed to Mandalay Bay
We got some chips & salsa at a little cantina, and maybe a shot of tequila or two. We also chatted with the bartender to get his favorite places in Vegas
The most interesting man was there, and we also chatted him up
We also took a pic with him, duh.
The main reason why we went all the way to Mandalay Bay was to head to the Minus 5 Ice Bar for a drink. It was quite an experience!
We put on parkas, uggs, and gloves, had to leave our phones (otherwise they would freeze!) and headed inside.
Everything was made out of ice (seats, cups, and the bar!), so it was obviously cold. We had one drink and then got out of there.
We hopped across the way to Ri Ra for some more fun, and then danced a bit in the casino downstairs, and grabbed a cab back. I think we ended up going to bed around 3:30? That means I had been up for over 24 hours by that point, so I crashed hard.

Will post Day 2 soon!

I lived out there for 3-years and Mandalay and the Hard Rock were our 2 places we went all the time. They didn't have the ice bar back then but instead a place called the Red Square that had an ice-topped bar.
Love your dress. Did ya'll rent a car?
if you're obsessed with that area of the country, you should go back and do the Grand Canyon. AWESOME!!
